Hi guys, haven't seen each other for awhile. I just left from Canberra for 3 weeks. I came to Sydney to work at Angaroo Education Specialist in Graphic Designer.

Unfortunately, I have lots of works to do for this company. So, that's why I don't have much time to travel somewhere else out from Sydney ; just walk around the city. But, that's alright I'm happy to do that. :D

1. i'm start with filter>blur
2. use curve to make his face more lighter
3. use another curve for make his clothes lighter. but i'd mask his face for keep his face still.
4. create some contrast
5. curve again with background to make background darker
6. use "gradient map" it's the best way to make black and white picture. i reckon :D
6. doing a crop process
7. here there is!
8. then go to image>image size (or ctrl+alt+i)
9. 14x14 inches and use Bicubic Smoother (best for enlargement)
10. 14x14 inches image
11. go to image>canvas size (or ctrl+alt+c) to create border
12. put 20x20 inches and use white background
13. DONE!!

"Question of Reality"

This one night only exhibition is a sneak preview into the Photomedia department at the ANU School of Art. "Question of Reality" features the work of 2nd year students in their attempt to "create a window into the way we manipulate photography, and the way it manipulates us." 13 artists have worked at interpreting the exhibition concept, with differing results. The concept is broad and allows for great lengths of individually devised works. This is the most intriguing thing about the exhibition; all these artists very much have their own distinguished style. And at first it seems jumbled together, with no clear purpose. But it is refreshing to see such different works produced by artists who are confined to the same learning space.
Their interests are broad, some using photography as a medium to further explore the human body and our relationship with the environment. Others have considered photography outside of its traditional form and printed on fabrics or experimented with images and text. Visit Mueanjai offers a study of the homeless, documenting people in Sydney's CBD. His photographs rely on the audience's recognition of those physical signs associated with the homeless - shoeless, excessive baggage, overgrown facial hair. His work also attempts to challenge our perception of the homeless with some of his subjects more unsuspecting. A close friend of mine who volunteers at a soup kitchen explained to me that people are considered homeless if they do not have stable living arrangements. She said that the homeless could easily be the man in the business suit, or the elderly woman on the bus. The only difference is they might not be too sure about where they will spend the night.
It is a shame that this exhibition was a one night show and was not viewed by a larger group of the public. However the students 3rd and final year is drawing close and I look forward to seeing an even higher quality of work from these emerging artists in the coming months.

Visit Mueanjai

My Australia is about people, building and light of the city. It’s about the way I feel towards Australia, to a different place from my hometown.

Every photograph is a representation of a single day in an Australian experience. It’s not like the universal Australia. I’d like to show the moment in the day. Their stories link to the present, past and the future, from my experience, through the people, between life and death.

Photography’s everyday life. Canberra was first time to come overseas. I was mostly alone because I knew very few people. I used to walk and ride a bike around city during the day and the night. I was frequently lost and scare but it was a way to feel the city trough photographs.

Sometime, I think the thing I’ve seen they were normally for Australia people everyday life. But, those common things are make me exited.

When I take a photograph about experience life in Australia. It’s not a universal Australia. I have call chic Australia which mean my Australia in my eyes, my private perspective. And my Australia it’s about people, building and light of the city. It’s about the way I feels to Australia, to different place from my home town. For example, when I took a photographs in Sydney field trip. I was take photographs with people who look sad. I get the feeling come from sadness of people such as homeless, workman and people in city life. Maybe, it’s not a good idea about this but I think my photograph say something about why we should have some concentrate for their people.

My photos are my dairy. Every photos are representation in the single day in Australia experience life. And, each single day contain the past and projection into the future. That’s why feels compound to indicate all every photos I take. It’s like I’d like to show the moment in the day. It’s link to the past and the future for my experience life as short time in Australia.

He profiles the lifestyles of his immediate circle of friends, working collaboratively with his subjects so that

the traditional genres of portraiture, landscape and still-life. His ability to produce powerful and sometimes shocking

images has brought him success in art galleries and mainstream media alike.

Araki is my all time favourite Asian photographer who can showed Asian Erotic Art completely perfect.

His skilled in the art of photography would have meticulously devising a way to use light and proportions

to create beautiful photographic images. He connects love and photography through feelings. He use woman

symbolizes all the charming and essential of life. Araki’s work so special personal perspective, especially of women,

photography, sex , life and death.

Photographing subjects as diverse as flowers, kinbaku (the Japanese art of rope-tying), and Tokyo street scenes, Nobuyoshi Araki continues to astound viewers with a plethora of beautiful and provocative images. Themes of love, sex, death, consumption, natural beauty, and femininity have inspired Araki since his days as a student of film and photography in the early 1960’s. Never willing to compromise his vision, Araki uses photography to enhance and record the strong emotional reactions he has to the subject of life and death.Born in Tokyo in 1940, Nobuyoshi Araki has been active in publishing, photography and filmmaking since his first solo exhibition in 1965 in Japan.

Daido Moriyama case study

Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama are two of the most famous contemporary Japanese photographers. Nobuyoshi Araki is the bad boy, he likes colors and controversy, on the other hand Daido Moriyama shots almost always in b&w and his pictures are sad and melancholic. Daido Moriyama was friend with Yukio Mishima, and he confesses that his photographic style is very influenced by his melodramatic novels.

Daido Moriyama has been taking Tokyo’s pictures since 60 years ago, his pictures are one of the best ways to travel back to the past in to the post-war years of Japan. This weekend I visited theTokyo Metropolitan Museum Of Photography where there is a great Daido Moriyama exhibition until the 29th of this month . Go if you have the opportunity.

Why I have to use square format for my independent project. Because square format with border is very strong attract for audience, it's minimal and gental.

And, also I study from Rinko Kawauchi square format.

kawauchi's themes
of family, human interaction with nature and the cycle
of life are photographed in pastel colours.
her work reveals exquisite delicacy, achieved through sensate
compositions, a careful attention to texture and the cultivation
of a beautifully clear, clean, often whitish light.
she interweaves sensitized ways of perceiving the world
around her, with the fleeting conflations of forms that make
you wonder how one photographer mangaged to be present,
attuned and ready to photograph so many pungent
observations. once rinko kawauchi said:
‘for a photographer, it's a necessity that you can shoot stuff
magically. accidents are necessary, but after I take a
photograph, it is not all done. I continue to work on it.’
she suggests that the editing and presentation of the work
is as important to the final image as composing and taking
the photograph itself. at times she presented her work
alongside her own haiku poetry.

Photography change the way we see.
Different subject matter from Nobuyoshi Araki.

Nobuyoshi Araki, contemporary Japanese photographer who represented the way of Japanese Erotic photography. Araki’s images there is a sense of something ‘else’ transmitting an arresting and ominous quality behind even the most conventional of Japanese fetish. His images of flowers and women, in particular, are darkly erotic; he presents a perverse vision of beauty with a scent of contradiction in society. His works all about movement and restlessness, even though he returns again and again to the same fixations.

Araki connects love and feeling through photographs. His photography explores the relationship between life, death and sexuality. He photographs especially of women. The way he approaches women is very different from others. He prefer to photographs prostitute rather than models, I think because he wants to make something raw and presents reality.

For me, Araki is utterly beyond the pale especially depictions of women : women in Kimonos bound and suspended in bondage, women’s bodies smeared with what appears to be blood (in fact, it is paint), women masturbating, women with lipstick and cigarettes, women with Araki’s bestiary of plastic dinosaurs and lizards. If he shoots model, his photos will not be raw and natural like his own photos. He has the same style as other photographers but he photographs different subjects create different meanings and their meaning of prostitutes symbolizes all the charming and essential sides of life.

Even the photos of his wife that he has taken, all of them have lots of meaning between relationship, sex and death. He has one collection about his wife, Yoko. It was about photos of her death when they went to travel together. And every time when Araki taken her photos, it’s like he knew as if she was gradually dying from uterus cancer. I think it was not only about capturing the image of a woman but also the portrait of a relationship.
He said “Maybe I only had a relationship with her as a photographer, not as a partner. If I hadn’t documented her death, both the description of my state of mind and my declaration of love would have been incomplete. I found consolation in unmasking lust and loss, by staging a bitter confrontation between symbols. After Yoko’s death, I didn’t want to photograph anything but life – honestly. Yet every time I pressed button, I ended up close to death, because to photograph is to stop time.” He went on. “Photography is like a murder for me and Yoko’s”.

Araki has escaped real persecution by tethering the limits of what is tolerated, stretching without breaking the rules, and playing the rebel without constituting a serious threat. If Araki didn’t exist, the system would have had to invent him. Araki has said “Women always go home ‘happy’ after I take their picture. I truss them up or shave them. Ha ha ha. Then I get love letters, saying, ‘It was a happy day for me’.”

Araki has lots of exhibitions in his works. I have seen one of his exhibitions last year in Thailand. His works was relating to what artists look through Thailand. He had taken photos with Thai prostitutes. That makes me love his work completely. He never gets away from his strong identity even he has been to Thailand! And his images made me stop and look at their images for a little longer in the exhibition.

Araki’s art cheers me up. Quite often, it turns me on. It is delightful, sad, truthful, and its playfulness is a great antidote to self-pity. It is an injunction to make more of the things in life matter; love of life and its complexity most of all in the knowledge that one day it will all end. The shutter stops time, but only for a moment.

Photography change the way we see Pornography

Nobuyoshi Araki, an important contemporary Japanese photographer, synthesizes classic photographic genres (still life, portrait, fashion, landscape, abstract) in many of his best images, pornographic photographer, my influence photographer to make me thinking something difference, something secrets, something that characteristic, something touch people heart. His images of flowers and women, in particular, are darkly erotic; he presents a perverse vision of beauty with a scent of corruption. Behind even the most conventional of Araki’s images there is a sense of something ‘else’ transmitting an arresting and ominous quality.

Why Araki. Araki is Araki, he connects love and photography through feelings. His photography are relationship between life and death. He has strong individuals with his photographs. Araki’s work so special is his very personal perspective, especially of women, photography, sex, life, and death. Sex is just a means of establish a moo, rather than a finality. The way he approaches women is very difference from others. He prefer to shoot prostitute than model, I think because he want to make something difference meaning in itself. If he shoot model, his photos will be not special like his own photos. Same style from others photographer but he make difference object to make difference meaning. And, Their meaning make symbolizes all the charming and essential sides of life, whether as he take photograph of his wife. All of his photos about his wife they have lots of meaning between relationship, sex and death of his wife. He has one collection about his wife, Yoko. It’s like a photos of her death when they went to travel together. And every time when Araki taken her photos, it’s like her completely getting die from her uterus cancer. I think it was not only about capturing the image of a woman but also the portrait of a relationship.

Araki’s work was never prosecuted , and that, according to the catalogue, the sum of Araki’s fines over four decades total 300,000 yen, or about the cost of a couple of good lenses. Araki made me know that just only the wind blowing woman hair, that’s means sexy and erotic in other way. That’s make me can play more with my photos about women. Not even pornography or erotic photography but they can make really good photographs of women also.

The things make to change way I see from his wo4rk is his personal journey through life, an open window on his private fantasies of images, dreams, lost up and down moments. His photography are like a mirror, reflecting the reality on which my live. His photos always make me surprised and fascinated with his “genius”.

I went to field trip with Photomedia classmate. We have group assignment about Sydney. But I'm love to select my eyes trough images. These are talk about life and death of nowhere man and vagabond. People in Sydney they look sad, some people they very rude. I think they always have something behind themself that I can't to stay in there. It was so deep. One thing I can remember about Sydney is sadness in visual civilization on their own.

Anyway, I'm so grad to have you guys in there with me. I will not never forget that moment we've stay altogether and smile for nightlife at Darling Harbour.
